When I buy a book I usually just read the synopsis and decide quickly. This book met my criteria and it was a real joy to read. I enjoy reading authors who just 'get' people and write such entertaining books. The book wove an intriguing story and the story's heroine comes gently and almost as a fleeting character at first. A top read.

The Sleeper Two strangers meet on a train Only one gets off A dark and gripping psychological thriller edition by Emily Barr Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

After pedantic start this book was unputdownable.now it's my husband's turn and I'm trying hard not to give away the ending! Emily Barr never disappoints but this is a cracker. Well researched and full of surprises. Suitable for most tastes.
Great read. Feels a bit like Gone Girl. The only down side is that the main character is quite flawed so my sympathy for her was a bit limited. Very enjoyable though. Definitely recommend it.
This book was totally gripping, I was unable to put it down.....a great story line etc and in my opinion her best work yet!
The first half was quite boring. Took a lot of patience until the story getting somewhere. But if you have been missing London like I have, this book will make you reminice about your good old time in the city. Lots of details about the city.
I love Emily Barr for the characters and storylines, her books are always that bit different. I really enjoyed this book but not as much as other ones she has written, I think other writers do murder mystery stories a bit better. Still worth a read though...
The plot and the characters were interesting. This was basically a good thriller but towards the end started to remind me of Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl...maybe too many surprises! But I would recommend it nevertheless!
The Sleeper got off to a pretty good start. Tense opening leading into a well-structured back plot exploring the circumstances which brought our lead protaganist to the brink. Then half way through the book, the switch occurs and we move to a second key character, and things take a major turn towards the implausible and downright silly. Not to give too much away, but an individual moving overnight from being a recluse to taking up a life-changing mission on a quest for someone they had met a handful of times is just stretching all plausible limits. And that wasn't the only daft characterisation - suffice it to say this book lost me, which was a pity as it had great potential. 3 stars for the good first half, but honestly, I wouldn't bother.
When I buy a book I usually just read the synopsis and decide quickly. This book met my criteria and it was a real joy to read.
