Jared Helm is transported out-of-body to mystifying destinations. One evening, his imperceptible spirit embarks on a journey to an amazing castle bordering the ocean. Though the importance of the venture eludes him at first, he eventually learns that the castle is the stomping ground of a murderous sect abducting individuals for ritual sacrifice.

An offshoot of the English and Irish Hellfire Clubs of old, the evil cult's castle is located on the seacoast of lower Maine. The group's fanatical Master, whose lineage reaches back to royalty and to rapscallion leaders of old, stops at nothing in his quest to please Satan. And although the previous clubs were known for wild and toxic behavior, this one takes those traits to malevolent heights. The story grows deeper and more sinister as the New England seasonal change enters the autumnal equinox on the approach to Samhain.

"The Three Doors" sends readers on a paranormal roller coaster of horror and thrills, into the astral plane of existence that's invisible to most yet entered frequently by those who dare. But beware this book is not for immature minds, the thin-skinned, or the vulnerable. It's primarily a horror and paranormal story, but it delves in areas of Christianity and Satanism, Heaven and Hell, and young love amid hatred in a contemporary world. Everything has its polar opposites, even the characters. It's about a surrounding evil, and a group's desire to confront and overpower it.

I started the book about 2 weeks ago via cloud. I had to stop as darkness approached and to be honest I was a bit spooked and rather apprehensive about drifting off to sleep, you'll see why once you start reading yourself. Cannot wait for the paperback where I can read on the beach surrounded by people instead of a house built in 1892 as that certainly makes for some interesting reading.

Up to the chapter that I stopped at it was an absolute page turner!

I'll be back with a full review once I finish.

Happy reading to all...Enjoy The Three Doors!

The Three Doors is an intense story about good versus evil; a story that will give you goose bumps and have the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It is a disturbing thriller about the occult and its power it can have over weak and power-hungry people.

The images that this book brought to my mind were very creep, to say the least. Demons are peering at you from dark and hidden places. I got could just picture it in my mind. However, the characters of Jared, Iris, Eric and the others save you from complete darkness. Their strong sense of goodness and morals saved them from true evil. They can't be corrupted. I liked that these characters are not yet adults but still have inner strength so strong that they can defeat evil.

The villains of this book are truly evil. There is no redemption for them. They pay for their complete depravity. Joe and Alex are examples of what a desire for power can do to a person. It totally corrupts and destroys the soul. There is no way that anyone can sympathize with either of them. You feel no sympathy whatsoever with their plight.

Good versus evil is such a strong theme throughout this book. Mr. Holland did an amazing job personifying such a battle with his characters. I liked how Jared experienced temptation but was able to overcome his desires in order to see what is good and not get swallowed up by true evil. His girlfriend, Iris, is a perfect match for Jared. Both are so strong in their sense of goodness and fairness. They truly want to do fight evil and do what is right.

The Three Doors is an incredible story about belief and survival. When you go to bed at night, you will not want to turn out the light nor will you want to look out your bedroom window in fear of you might see. It is definitely a book to be read with the lights on and in broad daylight. It took me awhile to read it and I blame it on its complete creepiness. This book will definitely stay with you for a long time.
I'm not going to give a full synopsis of the entire book, but briefly it revolves around Jared, a boy newly arrived to the area, who has the gift of OBE (out of body experiences). When he realizes that Alex, another boy at the same school, is involved with a satanic cult, he reaches out to a friend for help to bring them down.

The tale is a classic good vs. evil tale as each group tries to stop the other. Thrown in here are demons, posession, gruesome murder, drug use, rape and implied sexual abuse of children, so the book is not perhaps for all audiences. However, you can't honestly convey a sense of the true depths of depravation, perversion and evil of the group if you can't tell the reader of their acts, so that the reader can generate their own sense of revulsion for the group. So I can understand the author's intent in including some of this content.

For the most part, the book reads quickly, with fairly short chapters. There are a couple of typos, but nothing earth shattering. I should mention that the first page is overly descriptive and florid - from the "cerulean sky", the "bellfry's carillon melody" and the "ever so jovial Reverend William Lockwood" as a few examples....I was afraid that the rest of the book would be bogged down with descriptions, but fortunately this was not the case - the rest of the book was fine, so I urge you to continue on and not be put off by the first page.

For the most part, the characters were fairly believable, although there must be some element of suspension of belief in some of the creatures and powers that are used in the story. Did it do well as a supernatural horror story? Absolutely! There were definitely a number of creepy moments in there...and I thought the interaction between Jared and his car was neat, and vaguely reminiscent of Stephen King.

The only reason that I shaved off a star is the heavy religious/Christian message/references at the end of the book. I respect the author's religious beliefs, but not everyone is as enthusiastic concerning religion.

That being said, it was still an enjoyable book and would recommend it.
I bought this book thru the kindle store, I asked for Christain books. I was a bit shocked with the language.(F bombs etc.) The story itself was kinda exciting.
This has been one of the most Hair raising books I have read in a while. "The Three Doors" has played with my emotions as well as put a light on my fears.I'll keep an eye open for another from this author
Kind of intense book, well written. I usually read just before going to sleep, and more than once while reading this book I felt a little too creeped out to go to sleep! Good story though, classic tale of good and evil.
